The biggest international event dedicated to food.
The 12th edition will be held from September 20 to 24, 2018.
More than ever before, the focus of this year’s event will be on people.

General Information

Organized by Slow Food, the Region of Piedmont and the City of Turin, Terra Madre Salone del Gusto will be taking over Turin from September 20 to 24, 2018.

Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2018 will once again take over many locations around the city of Turin, as well as spreading out into the surrounding region of Piedmont.

The Market will return to the Lingotto Fiere pavilions, along with some of the Terra Madre network activities, while others will be held in the city centre. The conferences are being organized together with Turin’s Circolo dei Lettori, while the the Enoteca will be held once again in the splendid setting of the Palazzo Reale.

More than ever before, the focus of this year’s event will be on people….

Not just the Market producers, selected using increasingly strict criteria. Not just the food communities, who for five days will bring the world’s food agrobiodiversity to the city and discuss shared challenges and solutions. Not just the chefs who are conscious that we cannot separate pleasure from responsibility towards producers and who use their creativity to promote their local areas. Not just the conference speakers, influential figures who will offer multiple perspectives on how food can change the world, for better or for worse. This year, the focus of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto will also be increasingly on the visitors. The event will foster a dialog with them, starting from the broadest possible sharing of knowledge and seeking to inspire a change in people’s food habits.

Everyone will be asked to reflect on their food choices: what production methods they support, what foods they cook, what they put in their shopping cart. Every day the food we choose brings up many questions, not just relating “simply” to food but also the environment, social justice, economics, politics… Choosing a specific food in a specific place can mean taking sides, not being indifferent towards the planet on which we live and its resources and thinking about the future.

At Terra Madre Salone del Gusto we will try to raise some of these issues, with the awareness that doubts, questions and debate are an incredible driving force for wealth—real wealth.

We look forward to seeing you in Turin, between September 20 and 24. Don’t forget to keep checking back to the website for updates. In June the full program of the event will be availble.
